This week's focus: Curiosity

Curiosity is an openness and desire to learn or know new things. Being curious helps you develop new ways of thinking which can help you be a better problem solver, be more empathetic, and be more interesting!

Without curiosity, you won’t grow as a person, meet new people, or have new experiences.

For more information about curiosity, download the flyer using the button below:

This week's growth mindset challenge is... burpees! Over the course of the week, allow your students to practice having a growth mindset and give them the opportunity to improve the number of burpees they can do at one time, or within a set amount of time.

Please integrate at least one of these games into your sessions this week. While doing so, please also incorporate a discussion about curiosity. (For game instructions see coach playbook)

Don't forget to end each session with a Mindful Moment! This week's Mindful Moment is Awareness of Object

Goal: Students will have an awareness and curiosity of various objects. They will slow down to examine a new object.

  1. Have students choose an object that is small enough to pick up easily and hold in their hand.
  2. Have Students get into their seated and mindful body posture.
  3. Have the students hold the object in their hands and pass it to their other hand.
  4. Ask them how heavy or light it feels and to just notice it.
  5. Have students rub their fingers over the surface and see if the object feels smooth or rough.
  6. Have students notice if the object feels smooth or rough. 7. Have students put down the object and take a deep breath through their nose and let it out through their mouths.
