This Week's Focus: Integrity

Keep your word and do what’s right.

Integrity refers to the quality of having strong moral principles. It’s all about being honest and truthful, both with yourself and others. When you practice integrity, your words, actions, and beliefs are all aligned as you commit to doing the right thing.

Integrity is a very valuable trait when it comes to building positive relationships. It fosters trust, respect, and mutual understanding, and it’s also an important part of ethical leadership. Honesty will always carry us forward!

This week's growth mindset challenge is... burpees! Over the course of the week, allow your students to practice having a growth mindset and give them the opportunity to improve the number of burpees they can do at one time, or within a set amount of time.

Play Along

Please also integrate at least one of these games into your sessions about integrity.

Let's play Ring Toss, where students work on their aim and decision making.

Let's play Around the World, where students will practice their shooting and dexterity.

Don't forget to end each session with a Mindful Moment! This week's Mindful Moment is The Five Senses

Goal: This exercise is to practice being aware of the present moment throughout the day and to have students focus on the world around them.

  1. Have Students get into their seated and mindful body posture.
  2. Ask students to notice five things that they can see. Have them look around at five things that they might not normally notice. Ex: a shadow or small crack in the concrete.
  3. Ask students to notice four things that they can feel. Have them bring awareness to what they are currently feeling. Ex: the texture of your pants, the feeling of the breeze on your skin, or the grass next to you.
  4. Ask students to notice three things that they can hear. Have them tune into the sounds around them. Ask them what they can hear in the background. Ex: Birds singing, or the faint sounds of traffic from a nearby road.
  5. Ask students to notice two things that they can smell. Have them bring awareness to the smells that they usually gloss over, whether they are pleasant or unpleasant. Ex: the breeze carrying the scent of trees, or sweat from playing.
  6. Ask students to notice one that they can taste. Have them focus on the one thing that they can taste right now in this moment. Ex. notice the current taste in your mouth, water that you just drank.
